Scott,
There are the obvious attributes such as the ability to analyze complex issues with one to many correlations and correlations that may be multi degree removed. Also this person should have great technical aptitude and understanding of a wide array of technology.
Given the base attributes above what I feel can make someone “Great” would be a passion for the IT Industry and a drive to know everything. The type of person who lives and breathes the industry, who spends their weekends reading white papers, who networks with others in the industry to learn and not to market.
