What's the strangest question you've been asked in a job interview?

I've had some pretty strange questions asked during interviews. They are an obvious test to see both how I think and how quickly I think on my feet. Strangest question I've been asked: Why should steroids in sports be legal? Anybody got any challenging ones to test a candidate?

I think the best one was one taken from Microsoft: "Why are manholes round?". I'm serious. Watch someone answer that question. It takes quick response, creativity, idea generation, logic and a little levity.

I haven't been asked this question but I used to work with a Marketing Director who used to ask candidates at the end of an interview just as they were leaving "how much does your left shoe weigh?" She used this as a test for creativity, quick thinking and to see if any humour came into the answer.

When I was being interviewed for a job as a training manager at a very posh London hotel (many many moons ago) the eccentric General Manager asked me (in complete seriousness) what sort of funny hat I would wear to attract the trainees' attention.

Despite spluttering and hesitating I actually got the job so I suppose my ignorance of appropriate headwear didn't spoil my chances.

I like the Microsoft Manhole question! I get bored interviewing people so I try to change it up and have some fun. The one quesiton I ask people now if I like them...
"Do you believe in extraterrestrial life forms exist?" I think it's suppose to test how the think on their feet.

The other curve ball is "Is you could be any animal what would you be?"
