Where can I download voip software for my laptop?

I travel a lot, and I want to download a voip soft phone to my laptop so I can continue to make calls at a cheaper rate. I’ve tried Skype and decided that I need something a bit more professional. Any recommendations?

I have found Google Voice to be very useful when on the road, or anywhere for that matter. The Gizmo soft phone will give you support for your laptop and smart phone through wifi or you can direct the call to any phone you like. Of course there are a number of services that you can subscribe to also.

Try Counterpath's Eyebeam or their Bria for Microsoft Outlook.Counterpath is who we use at Apptix for our Hosted VoIP customers who want a softphone. We support the Eyebeam and X-Lite versions and tell everyone that call quality is dependant on how powerful your laptop is and the quality of the internet connection being used for the calls. VoIP works best with QOS ( Quality of Service) routers that tag the voice calls to have priority over data. Remember optimum requirements for your computer would be Pentium 4 2 ghz, at least 512k RAM, WINDOWS 32bit processors only and full duplex 16 bit sound adaptor.Try closing as many apps as possible on your computer when yopu make the call and definitely dont have any streaming radio or video when you are using the softphone.

Hope this helps.

Also try the Voice Operator Panel from Joher. They have 4 different models, one is free for non-commercial use, then there is the Nano, Lite and Standard Version. Standard has the potential to do screen pops by pulling searches in your CRM application based on caller id and caller name and number. Very cool.

Standard is also a full blown attendant console, and can answer for multiple companies.

I agree, the counterpath phones are great and have some good features as well.
