Where can I find information on how to be PCI compliant?
I’m looking into being able to accept credit/debit cards as payment, and want to know where I should start. I’ve heard that you need to be PCI compliant – where can I find how to do that?

There is a lot of information about compliance and the ideas behind it at
https://www.pcisecuritystandards.org/index.shtml
You can go directly to the PCI website to see their copious list of requirements, then you can locate a PCI consultant who can help you.
Or... you can simply sign up with a credit card processing company that certifies that its system is already PCI compliant.
This second method is far easier, much less expensive, equally effective. AND you should also download the appropriate questionnaire from the PCI site, fill it out and submit it, keeping a copy safe at home.
I suggest you do not hire a consultant. it would be analogous to hiring a consultant to get you an SBA loan, something you can easily do by yourself.
