Where can I find local hr training seminars?

I would first start with your local SHRM chapter - they often have lunch or dinner meetings with speakers that can be very informative. Another excellent source of FREE training is to call in your vendors to do small group training - call your W/C administrator in to do training, ask your Payroll administrator (ADP as an example) to come in and do a session, ask your Unemployment administrator to come in or provide training materials. Same with your Benefits providers – they are all eager to help you keep them as vendors and these services are free.
I also use Webinars - that are free from Labor Law groups - they cover every topic you could imagine - from Sexual Harassment to Preparing for an Epidemic of Swine Flu! The quality of the content is superior. The sessions are typically one hour long, to 1.5 hours long, are free and have downloadable slides or handouts – and certificates! Choose one each week and make it part of your mentoring. There are also webinar sessions through the DOL and OFFCCP that are free. Use the internet to search an HR functional area with Training as part of that request (I-9 Proper Completion Webinar or Training) and see what wonderful choices you see.
