Bime Desktop is a BI solution that integrates well with MS Excel. The connection builder will automatically pick up the headings from your spreadsheet and put them into the schema, either as measures or attributes. You can then create new dimensions or attributes if you wish, and move things around to form hierarchies. It's very simple and easy to use.
It would really depend on what you have. But I would say that SQL Server with SS*S (SSAS - Analytical Services, SSIS - Integration Services, SSRS - Reporting Services) works with office. If you want an seamless integration that is rather nice for functionality and immediate customer use, no need for a huge Data Warehouse effort, then I would recommend the following.
-SQL Server Enterprise with SS*S installed (included in server cost)
-SharePoint 2010 w/ Enterprise CAL (Enterprise gives you PowerPivot. You also get Performance Point which can help.)
-Office 2010 w/ the PowerPivot Add-On (Free from the Office site and actually can be used with and/or without SQL/SharePoint)
If you haven't seen the demo's of PowerPivot (in SharePoint and Excel Add-on) then it is worth going to the MS site to take a look.
