Which Linkedin group is best for IT professional, CIO and IT project managers?
With so many groups on LinkedIn, which ones offer the best, most thoughtful discussion on these issues? This great question was asked of me on Twitter by @MAltaee and I am reproducing it here..

I have know idea. A little bit of a rant here. LinkedIn needs to revamp its groups functionality!
There are awesome groups on LinkedIn with loads of good information but they are buried amongst other groups that have few members and all most no activity. Unfortunately ya just have to use the trail and error method.
I subscribed to anything that look like it fit the bill, watched the emails for a few days and then deleted the groups that were irrevelant.
LinkedIn made a big mistake by focusing on groups over Questions and Answers. Groups are private, you can only be a member of a limited number of them, and there are too many of them that overlap. I find that Focus is now a really good destination for "group" discussions about technology and business.
Too many on LinkedIn are just asking shock value questions, arguing about foolishness, or fighting long battles over easily answered questions. That said, the CIO Magazine group is a pretty good one, as is the Information Security Community (as Trevor mentioned).
I'm spending less time in LinkedIn groups these days, and more time in places that matter.

Try using the CIO Forum in LinkedIn. It's a good place for networking with high-net worthy individuals which you are seeking.
I agree with Matt. LinkedIn needs to revamp its groups functionality. It's terrible in LinkedIn groups these days. All LinkedIn did was make it look cleaner for link spammers to post material. As a Group Manager for the IT Focus Expert Group on LinkedIn it's become a nightmare trying to monitor group posts and community activity. I only take action now if a person is over posting or if the material is irrelevant to the group conversation.
I personally like Information Security Community. They have a lot of members in the group and the group members are very quick to engage in conversation. The group manager was very good about keeping the community clean of spam, but who knows now with the new group functionality.
Thanks Michael for posting my tweet here :)
It seems many people are looking for recognition by creating new groups instead of promoting focused small groups. I agree with Matt, I will join some groups and see the interactions between members.
