Which questions will you actually answer?
Throughout the online experience, we're constantly confronted with the opportunity to give our opinions. But, when it comes to choosing which questions you will answer and which you will not, what are your criteria? Most people answer questions to which they feel confident they know the answers, but what other factors can sway you to give your feedback? Are you an aesthetic person? Is it the format of the question (i.e. multiple choice, poll, open ended, etc.)? Are you more likely to respond if you know (or will find out) the results? Is anonymity key? What else?

Multiple choice polls where the results are displayed after you vote are always nice...and fast. Least favorite - long surveys where each question has multiple components. If someone wants that much time, I think it helps to have an existing relationship or offer an incentive.
I prefer multiple choice as multiple choice
is quick and easy. If none of the answers
fit, then a comment space is always nice.
I'm a pretty big fan of multiple choice myself. Usually I don't have time for much more! On occasion I'll reply to a longer discussion question, but if it takes up more than 20 minutes of my time then I usually abandon my intentions.
A lot of it is aesthetics for me! If it's obviously a quick thing, I'll answer whatever. But if someone asks me to take a survey, or I am prompted, I am way more likely to do it a.- if I am actually interested in the topic, and b.- if it looks like a fun survey to take! The other thing I like is when there is the little thing that tells you how far along you are in the survey. Then I am less likely to feel like it's never going to end.
I also asked this question on linkedin as a poll, check out the results!!
