Who do you think offers the best survey software?

Best as in- most bang for buck. And what do you see as the biggest differences between the solutions that are out there? The type of surveys? The types of reporting? The levels of reporting? The respondent's experience? What else?

There are some differences that set them each apart but for the most part they all offer basically the same things. I'm partial to SurveyGizmo. I've been testing out their new 3.0 the last few months and it is really an improvement as far as creating the survey itself and the new options they have added. Reporting options are always a main factor as is the overall layout/design options of the survey itself. I like to work with a good interface and I want my responders to have a good experience too so I think the customizations they offer really help with that. I have had a few bugs with 3.0 and had to contact their help/support which was a fairly quick and helpful experience so I would add the support you receive from the provider as something to consider as well. Most everyone has heard of SurveyMonkey (and to a lesser extent Zoomerang) so there is some instant name recognition of being a well-known survey provider but I have heard a lot of groans and complaints of unprofessional associations regarding using SurveyMonkey so I do believe a company's reputation (and in the case of SurveyMonkey, over-exposure/over-use) does have an impact on responders. Hopefully SurveyGizmo will start to get more exposure, they are well-deserving IMHO.

I have to agree with Nancy. I just recently had a need for a survey product and did a good bit of research and found that SurveyGizmo was the answer for me. One thing that was very important to me was that SG seemed to provided better options to communicate back to the responder through their automatic email responder. The other providers seemed to be pretty much limited to the basic "Thank You" response email. SG had options where you could have certain emails sent automatically back to the respondent for certain answers provided in the questionnaire.

Ah, this has been extremely helpful. Thank you Nancy and Mike. Great points about people's associations with certain brands and the response e-mails. Those are both key points that can be easy to overlook. How much emphasis do/did you place on integration with other systems your company may use, such as a CRM, or even just Outlook? Also, how much do you rely on these providers' reporting or analytical tools vs. simple excel spreadsheets for your data analysis and interpretation?

We used zoomerang as a supplemental tool while I was at a F500 firm, and it satisfied our needs perfectly, at a price that was a non-factor.
