It seems FB Deals was a lame-at-best stab to capture a bit of the marketplace in discount sites such as Groupon. Unfortunately, none of their 'deals' seemed like much of one. Personally, I never found anything interesting in the offers and maybe half of them weren't even in my city.
I don't think this will effect the market in any negative way. If anything it will kill some noise in the FB world and any business that relied on FB deals has many other alternatives that will give them more return.
