Why won't Linkedin allow blocking of specific cross-posting applications (e.g. Twitter)?

I see so many people automatically cross-posting updates from Twitter to Linkedin. Seems like Linkedin is diluting their value proposition by forcing us to block people when we really want to block applications.

I totally agree, Alan! I'm not a fan of cross-posting to begin with but, I too am guilty from time to time. Still, I never cross-post something to LinkedIn unless it is LinkedIn appropriate. Auto-post from Twitter to LinkedIn? Never!

Thanks for starting this topic, my friend!

LinkedIn has a lot of work to do to better enable LI users to manage the activity stream, on both the "sender" and "receiver" sides. I detailed the issues and offered recommendations in this post:

I also wrote a specific follow-up post about automatic Twitter cross-posting to LI:

Not an answer, per se, but an excellent framing of the issue. Thanks!

I guess I should have started by saying, "who knows?" or "my sentiments exactly!" The activity stream is obviously a feature that needs significant improvement - and the more I looked into it, the more I realized how much! LI has done some nice work with the groups feature, so maybe they just don't consider the activity stream as high a priority...
