Will ERP ever move to the cloud?

Do you see ERP moving to the cloud? Have you seen people do that with the "transaction" engine or the "analytics" engine?

This question was asked during the Sage ERP Webinar, Maximizing Business Efficiency: As Easy as "E-R-P".

ERP is already moving to the cloud, Michael -- Salesforce.com partners offer ERP solutions via the Salesforce AppExchange, and Consona Corp. is busily integrating Compiere's open source cloud-based ERP solution, which Consona acquired in June. Aplicor, Lawson and NetSuite also offer cloud-based ERP solutions. Even SAP is beginning to deliver cloud-based ERP tools and extensions. And MyERP.com claims to have been offering ERP in the cloud since 2008, and has now fully integrated that solution with Google Apps, offering it via the Google Apps Marketplace with pricing starting at free for two users. I won't predict a market percentage, but I'm confident that you'll see broader user adoption of cloud-based ERP solutions, and new offerings in this arena, throughout 2011. Thanks for the great question. I'm looking forward to other opinions on this timely topic -- and you should be looking for upcoming Focus.com research on it, too!

Definitely - by the end of 2012 70% of market will be in the cloud

Oleg, may I ask where got those statistics about the cloud?

While many applications are in the cloud now, as Michael Dortch describes, the 70% figure just seems unlikely to me. Thanks for sharing any data you might have.
