Highlights
Social media is taking center stage in terms of how people interact with one another and communicate online. This shift is making its way into organizations and BI use through collaboration, mobile BI, and self-service availability. Although widely discussed, and with market availability and adoption growing, many organizations are still stumped on how to get the most from social media data and develop an integrated approach to BI. This roundtable will provide insights into how this can be achieved and how to gain value out of external social media data sources.
In this Focus roundtable we discussed:
- Debunking the market - what is the difference between social networking analysis, social media analytics, collaborative BI, etc.?
- How can organizations integrate social media related features into their BI environments?
- What about newer market offerings? What are the essential areas that businesses should consider?
- How can organizations leverage external social media outlets to help with strategic marketing efforts?
- Are there best practices and/or use cases that exist for companies looking to expand their BI collaborative capabilities?"
