Yes- but only if it is done correctly. If you do it wrong, you can lose alot of money really fast! There are some companies that are spending 10's of thousands of dollars on PPC ads. (Pay Per Click)

I'm entirely self-taught in Google AdWords. All you really need is a gmail account and then you can log into the AdWords platform. If you have some knowledge in Google Analytics this will help greatly as well.
