Do you suggest having a give-away drawing in your booth when sponsoring a booth at a virtual event?

I also agree. In the shows I've managed, the booths with giveaways get higher traffic but the trick is to promote your giveaway. If you don't, who will know to stop by your booth? more

Is there a standard, typical cost to host a virtual trade show?

What industries have adopted Virtual Trade Shows more than others?

The early pioneers, circa 2006-2008:
1) Media, publishers
2) Technology vendors
3) Associations
From 2H 2008 to the present, we've seen many more industries come on board:
Pharmaceutical
Life Sciences
Automotive
Financial Services
Consumer Goods
Travel, Hospitality & Leisure
Universities
Government

When managing a virtual booth, how do you handle the mechanics of having multiple experts on-hand?

I use a sports analogy here - you need a coach, who draws up the right plays, so that players all move in the right direction. Or a music analogy - you need a conductor to make the music come to life in harmony.

Are companies using virtual chotskies for virtual trade shows? If so, what are your recommendations?

I haven't seen many examples yet, but it makes a lot of sense. Why? Your visitor/prospect can receive (redeem) the prize right away - after all, they're already online. So consider item that can be redeemed via the web, such as an Amazon gift certificate, ... more
